  • Care and Instructions

All handmade soaps last longer when kept out of water and allowed to dry between uses. Try our soap saver bags to store your soap by hanging to dry. Our wooden soap dishes keep the soap raised for airflow.

Deep Well Farm products do not contain preservatives. Glycerin in soap draws moisture to it. In humid conditions (shower/bathroom) moisture may condense on the soap. Some soaps contain more glycerin than others.

Each bar is unique in design. Bars may contain air bubbles or pockets and  inconsistent texturing. Bars may vary visually from image shown.

  • Why Pine Tar?

Australia is cool right? Alexander wanted to go there when he had a "Terrible, Horrible, No Good, Very Bad Day."  Anyway this information came from an Austrailian medical research article found at ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/pmc/articles/PMC5434829

I'll give you the highlights here.

"Pine tar has been used in medicine for more than 2,000 years to treat a range of skin conditions because of its soothing and anti-septic properties."

(a bunch of science words like keratinisation came next)

"In addition, pine tar has been shown to be antipruritic, anti-inflamatory, anti-bacterial, and anti-fungal. These properties make pine tar suitable for the topical treatment of eczema, psoriasis, seborrhoeic dermatitis, and other dry, itchy, flaky, or inflamed skin conditions."

The article continues with fun facts like pine tar has been available over the counter in Australia since 1953. If you ever get that question in a trivia game PLEASE tell  us!
